Join Kim on the Mat for a 75 minute Yin Yoga Practice to take a break from the world and reconnect with yourself. Yin Yoga with Kim includes a dozen or so physical postures held for 3-5 minutes with meditation, mindfulness, and moments of contemplation woven between breaths.
Our world is full of challenges, making it difficult to feel the depths of our emotions some days. Our bodies end up “holding” the tensions between what we sense and what we are able to withstand. We are wired to survive.
Kim’s approach to Yin Yoga is inspired by her day-job in Community Mental Health with Teens and Families seeking to regain connection to themselves, the world around them, and each other after the waves of life have sought to pull them into the undertow.
Waves are best surfed in community so we can pull each other out when we get stuck. In community - digital and in person, we can cultivate a sense of communal safety.
We each have a story full of
triumph and defeat,
scarcity and abundance,
anxiety and confidence.
We all have
Things we are proud of,
Things we don’t talk about,
Things we wish others knew,
Things we don’t know what they mean, but we know they happened.
We each bring our stories to the mat whether consciously or unconsciously.
We are human, not robots.
We experience the world each day as humans. Our world is full of challenges, making it difficult to feel the depths of our emotions some days. Our bodies end up “holding” the tensions between what we sense and what we are able to withstand. We are wired to survive.
This is natural. It is not weakness to survive a global pandemic and feel incredibly physically tense and/or disconnected from our emotional state.
Through conscious movement, we can become embodied versions of ourselves again - or maybe for the first time.
On the mat, we begin to take time between the moments of our days to check in and reconnect with our hearts, minds, and souls through our breath.
Off the mat, we can begin to apply the ideas we learn on the mat to our day to day life and live more consciously, more embodied, and more aware.
We cannot solve poverty, oppression, or all mental health concerns with a deep breath. We can - however - begin to reconnect with ourselves and others around us through intentional movement, intentional breath, and intentional healthy connection to begin to build a better world.
We cannot change what has happened, but we can build a better future when we start where we are.
Any version of the pose is the pose.
You are more than welcome to attend a class of mine and remain in a single position of your choice for the duration of the class.
Showing up is the first step to feeling better off the mat.
Join me in the Village Ballroom to take a pause, take a breath, and ride the waves together.
