In honor of my grandpa, I will be collecting self-care and trauma healing supplies for those impacted by the Wildfires, Protests, Violence, and other side effects of living in 2020 in partnership with a local spiritually driven group - TheWitchesPDX who partner with PDX Mutual Aid and FaithBloc. Once the need is reached with the local groups, any extra supplies will be given to students/families at the school I work at.
What I'm asking for is:
@thewitchespdx are reminding us of the importance of healing our spirit alongside providing basic need support to those impacted by the fires, racism, and the poverty 2020 has perpetuated. Please visit their website, instagram , or twitter for more information.
If you’re uncomfortable with the idea of partnering with something with the label “witch” in it...This call for help isn’t about making you comfortable, it’s about doing the right thing and being a good neighbor. State Farm is there, are you?
As we all know, teachers build the future through being stewards of our youth and that is a HARD JOB under normal circumstances. In September 2020 in the United States... it's even harder. My district is all-online currently and therefore many people are missing out on the support of a hug from a coworker or the love only physical presence can offer. This year presents unique opportunities and challenges. We are starting the year in a space of anxiety, grief, and feeling a sense of heartache over not being able to be in person with students, not feeling able to love and support one another in the same way, and feeling as if the whole country is watching as we do online school in a way that feels more like a magnifying glass than the warm fuzzies back-to-school typically brings.
My point is.... teachers and anyone working in public education are in need of some love. (Alongside other essential workers, it's not a competition) If you know a teacher, do something kind for them. If you don't know a teacher/want to help out teachers and educators I work with, continue reading :)
What I'm asking for is:
Please send cards to PO Box 83893 Portland, OR 97283.
If you'd like to send one to a subject specific teacher, please be sure to add a note to the outside envelope with a subject area so I route it accordingly.
